La Lâcheté - Cowardice

Conrad is an undertaker. He is familiar with the land of shadows. But he is lonely and feels trapped in his marriage without love and passion. Madeleine, the local blonde prostitute who dreams of a better life, can easily play around with his feelings. He falls for her charms whereas she only needs him for a coup she plans to do with her pimp. The plan is to kidnap the daughter of a rich industrial. But the plan goes monstrously wrong and all traces of the crime lead to the undertaker. Conrad, a perfectly honest man so far, is forced to commit crimes he would not have dreamed himself capable of. The film is based on a true story which kept Canada on tenterhooks in the 60s.
