Ópera - Opera

Mexico - By Juan Patricio Riveroll

Scene from "Ópera"
A young woman wakes up, she dresses. A considerably older man joins her. He is a famous writer who has given up on writing substantial things. "Newspapers pay more than editors", he says and agrees to write a travel guide. That's why he is on his way with the beautiful young woman. She fell in love with him because of a novel he wrote and leads a luxurious life at his side. Sometimes her look lingers on the children in the streets until after they disappear around the corner. But Pablo is a mere shadow of his former self. He carries around his old writing machine ad says things like: "She is nobody, just a friend". he often calls his almost grown-up daughters - actually he has not entirely cut off his old relationship to his wife. He sees old friends. Marina is feeling more and more neglected by him. The estrangement deepens as Pablo catches fire again. He wants to write another novel. But can one create a life out of it? What is more important, life or work? Which one is the best view: Seeing a beautiful woman or the lonely melancolic view at the sea?
