Descaminhos - Dead End

A road movie through four Brazilian states, past 55 cities which flank the 8000 kimoetres of Brazilian railroad. A time trip, sometimes joyful, sometimes melancholic and philosophical. It's not true that the railway is merely a mode of transportation. One becomes aware of it when it suddenly is no more. Then one has to take the bus. In a bus however, one does not talk to each other, or only with your neighbour. An old man remembers the times when he used to stroll from one end of a train to the other talking and meeting all kinds of interesting people. In this documentary essay film, eight filmmakers, almost all of young Brazilian cinema, describe in six episodes the joys of train rides: each glance out of the window is an event in cinemascope.
