When star violonist Mihael Fabiani dies, he leaves some delicate secrets which give his widow Dora a hard time. She has abandoned her career for her husband and now learns that he had a lover for many years who shared his passion for music. All these conflicts materialise in the shape of a violin which Mihael baptised "Estrellita" – little star - as if it was yet another lover. What should she do with the instrument? In order to express her ambivalent feelings Dora gives the precious instrument to extremly talented 13-years-old Amir who has a hard time getting his parents to accept his love for classical music. His parents live in humble conditions and conceive music only as being an entertainment for the gypsy bar at the corner. In the meantime, Dora's son develops an interest in the instrument but only for its material value...
