Kremen - Hard-hearted
Russia - Alexej Mizgirev

Scene from "Kremen"
Hard like a firestone (in Russian: Kremen), such is the description Anton Remizov, the boy from province, gives of himself when arriving at Moscow train station after military service. His ideals do not correspond with the new age of oligarchs and mafia structures anymore. He can hardly adjust to the civilian world. The Moscow he was expecting does not have anything in common with the urban jungle he has to confront. A small event marks the difference. He is required to pay for using the train station toilet. He gets shirty. The security officer calls for a police officer who brutally beats down Anton before offering him a job a minute later. The law enforcement power turns out to be a corrupt, mafia-like troop which works by their own rules. When Antons complicated tele-love turns out to be an illusion, too, he is ready for a big brutal strike-back in the style of Robert de Niro in Taxi Driver by revealing corruption and degenerated morals of post-communist Russian society.
