USA - Joy Dietrich

Scene from "Tie a yellow ribbon"
Jenny Mason is an American with Korean ancestors. She has no connection to her American family anymore. She spends her days in New York with her white friends, her nights with white men she stalls quickly afterwards. As a photographer she is looking for a style of her own. When she meets her stepbrother Joe she understands that she needs to confront her identity as an adopted Korean in order to get control over her own life. Filmmaker Joy Dietrich is Asian American as well. Stories about women like Jenny who are adopted in America are not often told. They tend to have the highest clinical depression rate in the US.
