Scene from "Feet unbound"
Mao Tse Tungs red armys Long March which fled with 20000 soldiers and many casualties through 11 provinces up to the high North in 1934, is part of the founding legend of communist China. 2000 women participated in the exhausting march. Many just escaped the destiny of a child brides and unbound their feet themselves. At the age of seven usually their big toes were tied up under their feet in a way so they could henceforth only scurry. Some women (today aged 90) get to express themselves in this impressive documentary. Director Khee-jin follows the traces of the long march and shows todays social conditions in China.
